Vet & Tena

Vet and Tena were married in 1911. In 1914 they started Shooks Farm and continued to operate it until two of their sons Marv and Versal purchased the farm in 1952 .

 

Vers & Chris

Vers & Chris were married in January of 1946. They raised three children Calvin, Cindy and Bryan. Vers and Chris once retired enjoyed spending time between Texas in the winter and working on the farm in the summer. Chris passed away in May 2000 and Vers passed away in March 2005.

Marv_Doris

Marv & Doris

Marv & Doris were married in May of 1946. They raised four children, Rhonda, Dale, Daryl and Joel. During their tenure the farm continued to expand. Marv passed away in 1999.  Doris splits living at the farm in the summers and spending the winters in Arizona.

Dale & Darla

Dale & Darla were part of the 3rd generation working on the farm, until 2005 when Dale passed away.  Darla continues to help during the Cherry harvest season. They have 4 children Eric, RJ, Jon and Marlee. RJ and Jon are continuing the family tradition on the farm.

PRESENT  

Bryan & Barb

Bryan & Barb are part of the 3rd generation on the farm.  They have 2 children, Scott who lives in Central Lake and Beth who currently resides in Florida.
cheri_daryl Daryl & Cheri

Daryl & Cheri are part of the 3rd generation on the farm.  Married in September 1979 and have two sons Greg (Jenny) & Rob (Mishelle) who currently are working on the farm.    We enjoy spending time with our two granddaughters Claire & Alison.

Greg, Jenny, Claire & Alison

Greg and Jenny were married in 2006.  In the fall of 2008 Claire Ellen was born.  In the summer of 2010 Alison Arline was born.  Jenny graduated from Grand Valley State University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.  She is now the coordinator for the after school program at Central Lake Elementary.  Greg attended Northwestern Michigan College where he studied welding and auto body repair.  Greg is a member of the State Young Farmer Committee with Michigan Farm Bureau, a member of the NEW FARM group in Leelanau & Antrim counties, a trustee for the Board of Education at Central Lake Public Schools. 

Jon

Rob & Mishelle

Rob and Mishelle met at Hope College and married in the fall of 2007.  Mishelle has a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and is currently working at the Charlevoix Chamber of Commerce.  Rob has a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science and after three years of following internships, had a change of heart and realized he wanted to go back to his roots.  They both enjoy being active and involved in the surrounding communities or spending time with their dog (Denali.)
